There was a time not too long ago when boating, fishing, water sports, and swimming happened here at Lake Mackenzie, Silverton Texas. Sadly, due to the years of drought that have cursed West Texas, this once vibrant lake and water source has dried up to small ponds and a small body of water. There is still some fishing, small water craft, (paddle boats), camping, and hiking but the days are gone of the active water sports. The lake bottom is greatly dry and now deer, turkey, racoons, and vultures are it's primary guests. I have many fond memories of this lake, I now enjoy the small trips to hike and take pictures.
